Updated Print Design Portfolio - 2012 begins...

Good day all! And so January of 2012 comes to an end, wow time flies when you're having fun...

I spent some time recently dusting off, throwing out and selecting some design work for my Portfolio. Updating your portfolio every 6 months as a designer is probably one of the most important things to do, besides off course using amazing concepts and not being afraid to take risks!

Keep well! If you want to see the full Portfolio, give me a shout.

As tangible as paper!

Tangible |ˈtanjəbəl|
adjective
perceptible by touch
• clear and definite; real : the emphasis is now on tangible results.

noun (usu. tangibles)
a thing that is perceptible by touch.

The images below serves as a showcase of why paper gets me all excited and why I have this deep admiration for this very basic medium! Oh and off course why we should recycle...

Go on, find some paper and make something!

Oh, Inverted World!

The Shins has an album called "Oh, Inverted World" - this album has been stuck in my head for some time now. Today after work, I caught 2 wrong Metro stops & 4 wrong Trams, but eventually found the building I'm staying in. Usually I would have freaked out in these circumstances, but I had the Shins on repeat on my iPod, helping me to stay extremely calm & just laugh at myself. So, I decided to make a mini-tribute design..

Thanks to the Shins, where ever you are.

Davis and Buckley.

As a recent departing gift for my travels, a friend of mine gave me a good traveling companion, a cd of good old Mr.Miles Davis! Absolutely a must to have on your iPod! This reminded me of an image I recently spotted, here, all the legends are captured on skateboard decks, this style of design, to me, is absolutely breathtaking. Black&white meets subtle colour use and lines!

Another music man I have great respect for, seeing that we're talking about some old school legends today, has to be Mr.Jeff Buckley, who's music career was ended by an evening swim at the age of 30, so random and sad!

Addis in Cape

"When spiderwebs unite, it can tie up a lion"

Today two friends came to visit me in the city, it was time to show them the lovely world of Addis in Cape, the Ethiopian restaurant on the corner of Church & Longstreet. We were in for a treat, not expecting too much, the culture rich surroundings of the restaurant and the true Ethiopian cuisine blew us away. Walton & Lianca had lots of questions for our storytelling waiter (Walton, having recently traveled to Ethiopia himself).

Besides the introduction of new flavours to our taste buds and gaining an appreciation for their culture, this quote - "When spiderwebs unite, it can tie up a lion" - an Ethiopian saying, stood out the most for me. I will now spend more time reading up on their history, because this country holds amazing tales!

So if you are up for something different and unique, go check out ADDIS IN CAPE, 41 Church street, Cape Town.

p.s they have great Baklava!

le Rêve!

le Rêve! {the dream} I have had so many conversations with so many people, about so many topics, but one topic that always pops up, will have to be about a dream I have.. A dream that I need to turn into reality! The dream is still in a top secret folder hidden under my bed, but the entrance of my "dream" would most likely give the ambience of the image posted at the top here. Enough said, watch this space!
